Since 2004, a new Rule regulates natural health products in Canada. Health Canada must ensure that consumers have access to safe, efficient and high quality natural health products.

One measure to achieve this is to issue NPNs (Natural Product Number) to products that meet Health Canada’s requirements. To obtain a NPN the producer must apply for a product licence.
